Tango Night

Pride, jealousy, an affair, a fist fight, and a failed proposal. Welcome to Tango Night. It's going to be intense...

One night at the Milonga (tango social dancing) brings together bitter rivals, a cheating partner, and a man with a ring in his pocket and no idea what's coming. By the end of the night, a fistfight has broken out, a relationship is over, and a very public proposal has been rejected.

"Tango Night" is a dramatic piece with elements of dark comedy, where the audience doesn't just watch the story; they become part of it.

Meet the Characters

They all have main character energy, but when that many egos walk into the same room… what do you think is going to happen?"

Roxana

A Russian tango dancer, in a relationship with Mateo. She gets what she wants through looks and flirtation. What she wants is just to be loved... and money. Short-tempered.

Mateo

An Argentinian-born tango teacher who's been with Roxanna for two years. All macho on the outside, deeply insecure on the inside, and with a well-known weakness for beautiful women.

Juan

Mateo's old friend turned enemy. What he lacks in other departments, he more than makes up for with charm and a calculated cunning that always puts himself first. Known to have a big...potential.

Maria

A world tango championship dancer, twenty years married to Stefano, now divorced, but still his professional dance partner. Confident, warm, inspirational and straight to the point.

Stefano

Maria's world tango championship partner and ex-husband of one year. He divorced her to travel the world, found his spiritual awakening in India, and came back a changed man.

Gianpiero

A half-Italian world-renowned choreographer. Eccentric, egocentric (convinced he's a descendant of Julius Caesar). Always chasing his next grand inspiration and the drama that comes with it.

MARTA DE NITTO PERSONÉ

Director

Marta de Nitto Personé is a filmmaker and tango artist forged on over 200 film sets. After ten years working as a 1st Assistant Director and other leading roles, she has written and directed her first three short films - two rooted in the world of Tango. A dancer and teacher herself, she brings a lived, visceral authenticity to ‘Tango Night’.

What's Next

If you're going to see 'The Swan, The Werewolf and Gianpiero', you'll learn how quickly things can escalate into full-blown drama. "Tango Night" takes place the night before those events unfold.

Currently in development as an immersive theatre experience, with plans to expand into a feature film.
